“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”–L.M. Montgomery
Gallery Uptown invites you to view our show “October Curiosities” in the Walburg Gallery, from October 3 through October 28. Take in these quirky and amusing works of art that will delight you! Your curiosity will be piqued by six area artists, who have expanded their individual artistic mediums in new directions.
This show features Gallery Uptown member artists Suzanne Moynihan, with new mixed media work, which includes altered watches and animal sculptures; and David Lancashire, presenting photography on mulberry paper. They will be joined by Marie Marfia’s pastels; Rain Plattner’s pen and ink work; Kris Campau’s unusual wearable art made from up-cycling Nespresso aluminum coffee capsules; and Chip VanderWier’s large mixed media and combine wood/steel sculptures. Chip won prizes in both of these categories in ArtWalk and his prizewinning work is in this October Curiosities show!
The public is invited to enjoy light refreshments and wine as you view the artwork, meet the artists and ponder curiosities at our First Friday opening reception on October 6, 5:30-8 p.m.
