Leaf Dishes: Clay
Brad was born in Grand Haven, Michigan, and was introduced to the art world at an early age. When he narrowed the focus of his creativity to ceramics in high school, Brad set up a studio in a spare bedroom of his parents’ home. Exhibiting in a few art shows and galleries paid for college, and Brad graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2004 with a BFA in Ceramics.
He then began his career as a full-time artist, creating his work from his home studio. Brad’s work can be seen throughout the year at numerous galleries and art shows. For years, Brad has been designing functional, food-safe work, while creating each piece as a decorative work of art. All of his work is hand-built and impressions are made with real naturals.
Brad has this to say about his work:
“Nature inspires contemporary design in all of my artwork. Clean lines join with natural colors and textures. Flowing bends in vases, actual impressions of leaves and branches, and the nature- inspired look of my sculptural pieces all play into this idea. Adding natural elements to my work helps give it more of a presence and adds a decorative touch making my work ready for display.”
