Ancient Crab Tree: Pastel
My paintings show how much I love our Michigan landscape. The amazing colors and textures excite me. It is a challenge to capture the way our sunlight falls on landscapes, waterscapes, flowers, and still-life paintings. I am drawn back to favorite places to view them at different times of day and in different seasons. The colors of our sand or snow can go from subtle whispers to spectacular bold shadows. I appreciate where I live and try to show it in my work. Watercolor and pastel are my favorite media.
My formal fine arts education was at Aquinas College, Grand Rapids Community College, and Kendall College of Art and Design. I later studied with various watercolor and pastel artists in workshops and classes.
