Anne started painting and making collages professionally in the mid 1990’s. Although her journalism degree didn’t provide her with an art education, she loves books and has collected them to inspire and educate herself on art processes.
Out of college in the mid 1980’s, Anne had a career as a reporter, PR writer and newsletter creator. Later, she began working in Human Resources and became an HR Director. Her first show was in 1995 was with a local painters club called the Lakeland Painters. She has been painting and showing her work ever since. In July 2014, Anne decided to quit her HR job and completely devote herself to painting.
Anne has studied privately and in workshops under a variety of extremely talented artists who have graciously shared their knowledge and experience including Dixie Purvis, of Georgia, Jane Davies, of Vermont, Bob Burridge, of California, David Kessler and Joe Digilio, both of North Carolina.
Anne has shown her work in local and regional galleries in Michigan including the Tamarack Gallery, the Vesuvius Gallery, the Carlyn Gallery and the Flying Colorz Gallery. In Chicago, she has shown at the Joy Horwich Gallery and in Atlanta at the Anne Irwin Gallery and the Dogwood Gallery. Anne also shows in private businesses, churches and art fairs.
Her paintings have been featured in national and local competitions from the Sacramento Fine Arts Center in California to the Limner Gallery in New York and several cities and states in between. Additionally, she has won awards for her paintings at the Magnolia Fine Art Festival two years in a row in the Atlanta area.
