Colleen Rockey

The Shoppers, Acrylic

Colleen has been painting in a non-representational “abstract” style since her college days where she pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree over four decades ago.  She is still as excited about each new painting as she was back then.

Colleen’s paintings live in a world where color runs free, uninhibited by anything more than existence.   Sometimes they resemble places–dark urban spaces, industrial landscapes, or vaguely aerial views of the countryside.   Sometimes they don’t resemble anything at all but rather explore space, color, and emotion.  Viewers are invited to react personally to Colleen’s paintings and to create their own response/reaction.

Colleen is delighted to show her work at Gallery Uptown in Grand Haven, Michigan, the city in which she lives.   Her work is also found in private collections and has been displayed in numerous art shows.
