201 Washington Avenue Grand Haven Michigan 49417 616-846-5460
Lystra grew up on the shores of an inland lake. Her favorite place when she wasn’t in or on the water was a comfy chair looking out the window sketching the view across the bay.
She is a graduate of Grand Valley State University and studied at Hillsdale College and at the Art Institute of Chicago. Her study continues with ongoing workshops.
She calls Grand Haven home and is constantly inspired by her surroundings and the many artist friends who live and work in the area.
About her work she says: “I make art because I’m a lousy housekeeper, the art gives me an excuse to be messy. I guess what it really boils down to is that I make art because I just need to do it. That’s it, no search for the meaning of life or anything similar, I just need to do it so I do.”
